FAN for RepRapPro Mendel legacy
April 29, 2013 05:47PM
Hello,

I have the legacy RepRapPro Mendel (the one with double horizontal metal x-axes), and I think I will need to install a cooling fan.

- Do you have a recommended design in thingiverse ready to be printed and installed on the RepRapPro legacy x-axe design without to change the x-axe design mechanics ?

Best Regards

Hi
There's plenty on thingyverse..quick search will work

Main choices are
zip tie or clamp type
3 or 4 LM8 linear bearings

plenty with fan options
Personally i prefer the 4 bearing /clamp type but that means buying some M3 nuts and screws
I have no idea if its actually a lot better than the zip tie types just kinda "feels" better

Good luck

Many thanks,

My only concern is to add extra weight and vibration on the X-axe sliding platform. Now it is designed to have the less possible, and so also the extruder motor is on the top of the printer pushing the filament through a tube to the hotend.

- The cooler vibrations could add imprecisions to the print head ?

Regards
