Prusa i3 dimensions

Hi,

New to the forum and halfway through building the Mendel Prusa i3 with my son. We are following the instructions here [78.47.92.212]

We have bought all our parts separately but our arduino did not come in the original packaging.

the instructions use the arduinio box to measure the following dimensions:

a) distance between the Y corners on the Y-axis
b) distance from the Y corners to the frame

(please see the attached pics)

firstly are these dimensions critical and secondly if they are can someone give me the actual dimensions of this box??

Many thanks in advance guys (gals as well obviously)!

I don't think this distance is crucial, but it has to be exactly the same width on both short ends so the smooth rods are parallel. Just set one side, mesure with some calipers and make the other end the same width.

I don't think this is a critical measurement either. The front edge of the box should line up with the center of the Y-frame, so the hotend can reach all points on the build platform.

I built mine without an arduino box - I put the linear bearings on the platform, put the rods through, and then set the rods to be that width.

Thanks guys, my suspicions confirmed....
