Print Surface

Hi guys,

Well I have a functioning Mendel but I still can't print properly.
The print just doesn't stick to the surface, what are you guys using?

I tried MDF and plexiglass (acrylic).

I need a long term solution that isn't a heated bed.

I'm using ABS.

Thanks

ABS should stick to acrylic even if it isn't heated. That is what the both the Makebot Cupcake and the BfB RapMan use. You will need a raft though if you aren't heating the bed. If the raft does not stick make sure the nozzle is low enough to squash the filament against it.

Using blue masking tape (aka painter's tape) works very well too. And it has the advantage that it's easily replaceable, so you don't need to worry about damaging the surface.
