Hey, what size bootlace ferrules are needed for the Mendel Extruder head construction?

Thanks.

The smallest you can get.

But isn't the size limited by the size of the nichrome wire?

I have never been able to find any as small as the nichrome.

Alright. So which bootlace did you use? (Can you give me a link?) I need to purchase one quickly as our machine needs to be done within a few weeks.

Thanks.

Search "Wire Ferrules" at digikey.com. They stock down to 26 awg for boot lace ferrules. Will order down to 350 mcm for you.

Alright, so I checked out Reprap's Part Lister and found the bootlace ferrule listed there. I am located in the US, so the supplier provided won't work for me. The webpage for the ferrule recommended by the Part's lister is:
[uk.rs-online.com]

The specs are 1mm^2 wire, 2.2mm depth.

I checked out digikey, and found:
[search.digikey.com]

The specs are 1mm^2 wire (18awg) and 6mm depth.

So I am thinking the ferrule I found on digikey will work then?

Thanks guys.

instead of ferrules, i am just using thin 1.5mm diameter copper pipes from a crafts shop. cut into 6mm (or 8mm) lengths, you can have the nichrome and an AWG26 wire fit instead, crimp and you are good to go.
