Prusa i2 direct drive E3Dv6eye popping smiley

Has anyone mounted a direct drive E3Dv6 on an x-carriage successfully? Every design I come across the fan always interferes with the mount.

This is the closest I have found [www.thingiverse.com] but the fan still hits the 8mm smooth rod sad smiley

Thanks for any advice

I have found many good i3 mounts but none for the old horizontal i2 design

Ive mounted the hexagon all metal hot end which is very similar in needing space for the fan.
I just imported an existing carriage into freecad and cut the hole bigger to accomodate the hot end and fan.

Thanks, Gordon. I would do that too but the fan does not look like it will fit to clear the groovemount holes and if I rotate the fan it hits the 8mm smooth rod... ah so frustrating

Talking of the fan reminded me i had the same problem but i sourced a 7mm thick fan from farnell that gave just enough clearance.
Most 20mm fans come as 10mm thick.

Ah yeah I was hoping I could make this work but I think you are right. Thanks for the responses!
