Stretched print in Y direction

Stretched print in Y direction
November 12, 2010 10:17AM
Hi,

I am noticing that my final prints are longer in the Y direction than in the X. When I print a circle, it's oblong, and pretty noticable. I have checked my steps/mm in the firmware and other places that might affect a difference in x and y, but the settings are identical for both X and Y. What could be causing this in all of my prints?

Thanks,
Aras

If it is 2:1 then perhaps the micro stepping is set differently on one axis. If it is a small fraction then perhaps one of your belts is the wrong pitch, assuming your pulleys have the same number of teeth.

HI Nophead,

After some more testing, I have found that it is the X-axis that is consistantly 1mm short. When I print 10mm hollow cube, one side is 9mm the other is 10. When I print the 40mm cube, one side is 39mm the other is 40mm.
I will try and adjust my stepper pots to make sure I'm not skipping steps on the x.
Thanks,
Aras

Sounds like backlash. Perhaps your x-pulley is loose on the shaft.
