Axes don't move with drive belt mounted

Hi

Im trying to get a Mendel from Botmill running but the axes do not move. The Motors are struggling/jittering but can't get the belts moving.

* Its a kit from botmill. Techzone Remix electronics (MB v1.2, Stepper controller v2.3, Extruder Controller v2.2)
* Arduino-0021 64 bit
* Reprap 64bit-mendel-20100719.zip
* Default configuration in configuration.h for both the MB and the Extruder.
* I tested all components separately they work individually.

Without a drive belt the axes motors can be made to turn with the host Software: XYZ: Nudge size 10.0, Speed 300mm/min and press the right or left arrow to move an increment.
I could also move the X axes for a bit with nudge size 0.1 and speed 3000mm/min when clicking in fast sequence. Like this it barely moves sometimes but mostly, as in many other cases the host software gets stuck.
Trying to print some gcode didn't move anything.
Also I tried loosening the belts but shouldn't these steppers have enough torque? Lubrication needed for the bearings?

I would be grateful if somebody could give a hint.
Thanks

Hello,

Hopefully you have NEMA17 motors?

If the motors and drivers work fine when the belts are removed you may just have your current limit set low on the Extruder boards?

Hello Rich

Many thanks this solved my problem!
I Think I do have the NEMA 17 they look like the ones on Pololu
I didn't know about the pots on the stepper controllers and never seen an smd one before ;-) This will probably also solve my problem with the overheating extruder motor...

cheers & thanks
Daniel

No problem

Let us know how you get on with printing

Good luck with the rest of it.
