my prusa i2 is stalling on the Z changed stepper driver and greased screws

Okies,
My motors keep stalling out they are wired in series
Swapped the carrier adjusted the pot to 0.4v
It should work, greased the screws they turn freely
When the motors are off.
All I can thing is one of em or both are dying
What you guys think swap motors run tests again???
Or is there something else I can try first the axis stall sometimes
At different rates and then my x-axis is slanted.

What is the specification of the stepper motors, and what power supply voltage are you using? The answers to those questions affect whether series or parallel connection of the motors is better.

The old motors I dunno there really old when I got them no specs available.
But they ran in series for like 6 years .
New ones 2A 45 Ncm 64 oz-in 2.2V 1.1ohms 2.6mH well should I run those in
Series or parallel.

I'd also check the movement and homing sections of your firmware configuration, If you're using Marlin, it may be these 2 lines.

#define DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE { 300, 300, 5, 25 }

The default of 5 mm/s is too high and it'll try to drive the screws and bind.
I personally have that set to 0.5

#define HOMING_FEEDRATE_Z (4*60)

Similar for the homing, I also have this set to (0.5*60)

I have never been a fan of grease when we a talking about low power stepper motors designs.
Myself would try a good sewing machine oil. 3in1 Oil ect...

One of your steppers is missing steps this could be because of the grease on stepper motor leadscrew.
Grease is a good lubricant for axles, differentials, U-Joints but not 3D Printers as it is thick and sticky this causes undue resistance to movement.

My father always uses white grease for everything so tried on my lead screws, had nothing but troubles, Resolved with a Spray silicone based garage door oil.

I would also re-check the Z-Axis movement. Turn the 3D Printer and manually move the Z-Axis to both extremes. Using the LCD or Computer of Course.
Many times, Not just 10mm at a time turn to 100mm in one step the return to origin. Listen carefully if you can hear or see a missed step.


After everything else is tested then try this.

I would try adjusting your V-Ref a little higher 0.4v ~ 0.5v.
