3 evenings in My junk box.. = 1 Extruder (hopefully)

All parts are from my vast junk box.

Old alloy plate from a dead HD case. Pillars cut from old printer bars.
Stepper & Gear from an old printer ( its a five wire That works ok .with a stepstick/ramps. )
various screws .to nail it it together..
The Drive wheel is an Old Knurled Knob.. ooer!! but quite grippy on a cable tie
The stepper is only a 7.5 Degree but geared down about 8 to 1 .. will see how it gets on with the speed?

If its ok might hide it under a bit of paint

Still got to do the Bowden part when I get some tubing.

Added a pic of standard 15mm and 22mm central heating Pipe clips, a single screw and these hold the LM8UU's and the Skate bearings very well .. I've used them in my trial X/Y frame
Handy if you don't have 3d printer near to make anything .

been running this extruder and stepper using the ramps test routine and I notice that after 10 mins or so the motor ( no clue on its specs ) is getting quite hot, enough to be uncomfortable in the hand ...

The Stepstick with a good heat sink doesn't get very warm at all . ??

Are there any alterations to steps/Software reccommended to run a 7.5 deg step motor optimally ? on this extruder .

obviously its a bit more clunky that a 1.8 deg, and gets a bit hotter than the nema's

Some stepper motor basics:

1. Step angle of the motor affects steps per mm.

2. The more current you run through a motor, the hotter it gets.

3. Reading the wiki helps.

1.. sussed that bit ..

2. And this .. but having wound down the Stepsticks current till it almost stalls it still gets rather hot ..
