So I have been tasked with converting a Shopbot desktop into a 3D printer. Currently I am looking at what control board to replace the shopbot control board with. I have read this article: [
blog.reprap.org] so I know it's possible, but I am confused as to why you would use a RAMBO board if you already are using the stepper drivers. Would a RAMPS board work in this application? My background is in CNC and robotics so I am not afraid to get my hands dirty, but was hoping for some guidance before I start disassembling this machine. My hope would be to make this an Arduino based project as the goal would be to eventually build the machine from scratch.
