300.0 mm of filament used in this print

300.0 mm of filament used in this print

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere - can someone tell me how to activate / calibrate the calculation of how much filament is used in a print? I am using SFACT / Pronterface. Whenever I load an STL, the skeining process always finishes with a block of text something like:

300.0 mm of filament used in this print

the print goes from 24.246 mm to 151.254 mm in X
and is 127.008 mm wide

the print goes from 55.719 mm to 111.681 mm in Y
and is 55.962 mm wide

the print goes from -200.0 mm to 26.1 mm in Z
and is 226.1 mm high

The dimensions all seem reasonable; but the problem is - ALL of my prints are calculated to use 300.0 mm of filament!

Erm, i believe your Z axis should not be going into the minus.
A minus means it's going to put your extruder head THROUGH your print bed... It looks like the model is not centred...

As for the statistics on usage etc, I ignore them myself because I've never got them to calculate correctly under repg...

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Since I don't know where the code is generated, I can't fix it!

But the prints are fine. It always reports my prints as starting at -200.0 mm, but it actually starts at 0.0 mm (as expected), and the print is actually 26.1 mm high, not 226.1 mm.

Perhaps you have some kind of homing code that is moving your z axis -200 units to find the min endstop? (I'm guessing in start.gcode?)

I usually ignore what Pronterface says since I got used to looking at the Skeinforge output in the console. But not that you mention it, the info from Proterface doesn't agree with Skeinforge. It's wrong.
