How to fix dangling edges in Skeinforge?
September 03, 2010 04:11AM
I'm working for short time with skeinforge and is helping me well.

Unfortunately, skeinforge is warning me 4 times about ' dangling edges ' at a certain hight (see fault_layer&craft_settings.png).
When I look at the Skeinforge viewer I see also 4 layers that are wrongly calculated (see the difference between the two attached pictures). The layers are missing a bunch of lines and wants somehow to lay rods outside the printed object.

I tried different things to fix it but nothing seems to work. I use Autodesk Inventor to export .stl files.
Google is not helping anyhow...

I only use the basics of skeinforge, so exept for ' hop ' none of all the options are turned on.

Would anybody know how to fix this problem?

Thanks for the help, Jan.

Hi

You could try activating multiply with an offset for centre. If you have columns and rows set at 1 you get only one object BUT it will be moved away from zero.

I use Inventor and have had the odd problem with STL files. Inventor 2011 seems Ok but on earlier versions I had to import the files in Rhino and then export new STL files. This also gives you the chance to move the model away from X0 Y0.

Just out of interest have you tried with Hop off. Also have you the latest Skeinforge?

Thanks Ian,

Inventor 2011 did the trick.
It was also possible in Inventor 2009 to save copy as .iges
Then open .iges again in Inventor en then save copy as .stl.
