Skeinforge 41 Support Bug

Skeinforge 41 Support Bug

Has anybody else had problems with the skeinforge support (SF41) being extruded at an incorrectly high rate on a seemingly random layer?

I've attached my skeinforge config files, the part, and the faulty g-code.

This is what I know:

The support feed rate on layer 1 is somehow affected by the "perimeter feed rate over operating feed rate" in the speed tab. Also, the amount of filament extruded is doubled when the feed rate is halved. I look at line 255 vs 560 for comparison sake. They should be the same, but line 255 is hugely higher.

I have no Idea what causes it, and this is only the second time I've ever seen it. It's possible I'm just being dense and there is an obvious solution, but so far I haven't found it.

If it is an actual bug, do I just post in to the Fabamethius blog or is there somewhere better to send it?

Thanks for any help!

Hi Andrew,

You should change your Dimension settings:

Check Absolute instead of Relative Extrusion distance.

Why exactly?

I don't actually have the option (since teacup only works with relative) but I'm curious how you came to that conclusion?

I did not try relative but that seems to be the main difference from my settings...
Now I looked into it in more detail:

The parts that you refer to are infill and support. Support is extruded too much in your settings...

Skeinforge uses the setting from Interface to generate the supports.
You can set Interface Infill density lower if you want a more sparse support. 0.6 is good.
You should set Interface Layer thickness over Layer Thickness to: 1
also it is a good ide to make support flowrate a bit lower so you can break it off easier later.

This should solve it.

Please feedback about outcome for others.. So they can reference it...
