fine tuning for the bottom layer?

I've got the Z home set to as high as I can have it and still get the initial layer to stick...

But, on the first three full layers that get laid down, there's enough upward overflow from the previous layer to interfere with the print head as is moves to start the next layer. I don't really want to mess with the flow parameter, as I like the results on the other layers - and they don't appear to have too much plastic.

Is there another setting I can tweak to make the first (or first few) layers a bit thinner or with less plastic without affecting the entire sliced model?

I'm looking at the Bottom module and the Additional Height over Layer Thickness, but its seeming like that is the opposite of what I need.

Why should the first few layers be any different from any other? I think you have your flow rate too high and only get away with it when the layers are not solid as there is somewhere for the excess plastic to go.

You should calibrate it so that you can print 100% solid objects first and then sparse layers will just work.

Good point.

Back to the drawing board and calibration cubes!

I'd have the same problem, except my extruder takes a bit of a while to start going properly, thus compensating neatly tongue sticking out smiley

I mentioned this in another thread, but should probably mention it here as well.

I was able to raise my Z Home a bit more and still get prints to stick. This has pretty much solved the issue of having too much material on the first layer... subsequent layers do not have interference from the previous...
