Hole near perimeter problem

Hi All:

I have run into this problem a few times, and thought I might draw on the collective wisdom for some advice. I am trying to print an object with a rectangular hole near the perimeter (for a captive nut). Please see attached picture of the problem area. In this case, my layer thickness is 0.4mm, width is 0.6mm (1.5*width), extra shell on sparse layer is 1 (SF 41). What is happening is if the space is too small for the 4*0.6mm=2.4mm for the space from hole to perimeter, it just leaves the 2 walls shown, with no fill to connect them. Similar happens on solid layers. This is very weak. Is there any way to get them to have fill between, as in the more widely spaced regions in the picture?

many thanks,

john
