I have no problems with uploading bootloader and firmware using USBasp and Atmega 644p (via arduino). When I put Atmega 644 into dip40 socket on my board - arduino have problems with upload bootloader. why? On my USBasp i close jumper slow-sck (bascom avr read this atmega 644 without problems)
[SOLVED] edit:
--------------------
need to set FuseBits via external program.
Factory settings for Atmega: internal oscilator 1Mhz, JITAG enabled, CKDIV8 enabled.
Set to: external oscilator >8MHz, JITAG off, uncheck CKDIV8
644 or 644P - Sprinter's firmware is set for Atmega 644P. If U have Atmega 644 - need to change pins.h file and boards.txt
