Gettting Repetier-Firmware onto my Sanguinololu 1.3a board

Hi All smiling smiley

Wondering if anyone can help? I'm trying to get Repetier-Firmware onto my Sanguinololu 1.3a board. When I try to upload it to the board the console tells me:
Binary sketch size: 40940 bytes (of a 131072 byte maximum)
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0xb8

I've tried both holding reset and attaching the jumper with no change to the console output other than the value highlighted in bold above which changes to things like 0xb9, 0x6e.
On the internet people have also suggested checking if you have the right port but I know this isn't the problem because I'm able to control my printer using the same port.

Does anyone have any suggestions to this problem? Could I have messed up the avrdude.conf or perhaps there is an issue specific to macs that I'm not aware of?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thumbs up

Have you loaded a bootloader into the sanguino???? This is one cause of the errors you are getting.

See http://reprap.org/wiki/Burning_the_Sanguino_Bootloader

Hi Skywayne, Thanks for the reply smiling smiley Is there anyway to check if a boot loader is on it already or not? It's got marlin firmware on it but I guess that's no proof.

Thanks,
James
