Hi,

I have Howard Ind 1-19-4201 Steppers (24V, 3,6°) with 5 wire design which I converted to 4 wire bipolar using this schematics (it should be possible to run it bipolar without mod as well but I didn't try).

However - the torque is way to low, on the one hand, this's no surprise, since the inner resistance adds up to 4x70=280Ohms (310Ohms measured = 80mA@24V)). On the other hand, people seem to be fine with this steppers from what I read in the forums. Does anyone use this steppers for reprap?

I'm thinking about modifying it even further in order to run the coils parallel rather then serial but I'm not sure if it's worth the effort.
