Alternative electronics - Danguinololu

Hi all,

This is my first post on the forums, and I'd like to introduce the Danguinololu project, which may be of interest to anyone looking at alternative RepRap electronics. The board is fully interated and aims to be low-cost and fairly easy-to-build, doing away with the tiny Pololu driver chips in favour of TI chips with a larger footprint (similar to the FTDI chip). It also sports a ton of diagnostic LEDs which make quite a show!

If we can generate enough interest, we'll be able to supply the board as a complete kit (assembled and non-assembled) as soon as possible.

To read more, check out the new Danguinololu wiki page.

Looking very interessting so far

I can't find the connector like on the sangiuno for example to connect the panelolu with integrated SD on it?

Maybe additional 2,54 mm connector holes for all printer connectors would be great sihce alot of people have these connectors on their printers

Price would also be very interessting

Thanks for the feedback. Price is always the burning issue here, and we need to lower the cost as much possible in order to make it a successful project.
To start off, we will be have to produce small batches at a slight loss until interest grows and we can afford larger batches at cheaper prices.

At the moment we can offer the following options:
Fully assembled: £200
PCB and components: £190
PCB only: £120
Components only: £95

We realise the price for a fully-assembled board is quite high for a few initial purchases, but as you can see - it is the professional PCBs that are driving this. Don't forget that our Gerbers files are available for free download from the RepRap Wiki!
We can achieve a lower price if we manage to get interest for any reasonably numbered batch, for example if 10 people want one - we can lower the PCB price to £50!

Currently we have some remaining components, so for the first person to show interest we are willing to supply a fully assembled board at £120!

With larger future batches this price is expected to be standard for the fully assembled kit.
All assembled boards will come with firmware loaded and will be fully tested on a Prusa Mendel.
Also, thanks for the suggestions on improving the board and making it appealing to a wider audience. We will definitely consider such modifications in the next issue, but currently we want to see if it's worth taking to the next level, i.e. starting to provide it as a product.

Would you like some cheaper boards?!

Seriously - with the choice of HTSSOP package, have you looked at your max unsinked amperage?

It's all been considered and the board has excellent power distribution through the copper flood alreas. Don't forget that this mounts straight onto a fan therefore the boards run extremely cool, so even after hours of printing you can touch the top side (therefore right under the motor driver) and barely feel any heat. There are plenty of vias connecting the top and bottom flood areas as well.

Currently as we are trying to see if there is any interest, there is only £10 of profit in those boards to us, before even considering an added PC fan, solder for the boards, other consumerables and p&p.
If you know of a company that can turn them out for less we'd be very happy to try them out!

Also back in the day (about a year+ ago) and when we were looking at various electronics solutions, I'm pretty sure some of the well-known boards provided as full kits (e.g. RAMPS, Sanguinololu) were in the range of £130-150 before p&p. Their prices are lower now due to popular demand!

Hi all,
We're pleased to announce that owing to popularity, we have been able to reduce the price of the Danguinololu to £75 for the blank PCB, full kit unassembled: £110 and a fully assembled kit for £120.

We've also released a buy now page that accepts PayPal on our company website: [www.neuronix.co.uk]
