Can anyone give me an Idea on how much it takes to make a part? IE: a small plastic bolt: how long and how much material cost? just a guess is fine.

Say an M5x20 bolt? a couple of pence, 10-15 minutes counting the warmup on mine. But if you're interested in printing small bolts remember that you won't be able to print threads that work below a certain ( fairly large ) size, so you'd have to print it blank and use a die to put the thread on.

My cost of materials is $1.63 an ounce (filament & shipping) so when I print a piece I weigh it and I can easily figure the material cost.

Don't believe there is any malicious content and avast is just being cautious, seeing that it is an executable file you download.
I downloaded this at work with no issues and it works fine but I had the same virus warning at my house (where I use avast).

But as all things downloaded off the internet, think Safety First.

(heard of this on the filastruder forums, downloaded it on 12-Nov-13 and been running it with no virus issues... yet)

I just look at the volume slic3r indicates 1cm³~1g @ ~0.02€/g for PLA/ABS, Cura can indicate the cost too. (Maybe slic3r should add the feature, its trivial)
