How does one sign up to be eligible for the prize? Do we have to document our work and have it reviewed to stay in the running? Cab we jut pitch up in 2011 with our finished product and say, here it is? so many questions...

Yes. You definitely have to blog your work in a sufficient manner in an ongoing and timely manner so that others can replicate your results. This is an open source project and to keep other teams from scooping your innovations it is in your best interests to get your developed ideas out before the R&D community as soon as you can. It is entirely possible, for example, for part of the prize to be awarded to the originators of innovations that are used in a successful entry.

Another way of saying that is that if your entry is derivative in large measure on prior published work by other competitors, plan on sharing the prize.

We should do up some dedicated wiki pages and other infrastructure.

Right now we've got this page on the wiki:

this forum that we're using, and a banner on the wiki.

What else do we need?
