(shelled) Mini Mendel parts for sale
April 26, 2010 02:46AM

I am done printing a full set of Hollow Mini Mendel version 1.2.2 -parts.
[objects.reprap.org]

They came out really nice. Done in white ABS.

Who is interested in these parts?
They are mechanically fully equivalent to their solid counterparts.

If there is sufficient interest I am willing to batch-produce a number of
metric (or maybe even imperial) sets of these after the first set has been
successfully assembled. If any shortcommings of these parts versus the
regular, solid version shows up then I´ll replace them with an updated variant.

Marcus

Some questions:
I'm guessing these have holes, probably two so that you don't get air bubbles. Right?

How long do you think it would take for the epoxy to set in the shell?

Other than that, I'm pretty interested in the set/concept. How much are you putting them out for?

Please actually look at the parts.
The upper side is missing. So you just pour your epoxy into
it and be done with it. No extra holes.
I would not worry about air-bubbles at all. Even with the most air-bubbles you can get the epoxy will still be stronger then any printed version.

Don´t know. Does it matter?
Probably depends on how much hardener you mix with the epoxy.

I´m waiting for offers.

It might be easier to fill them with PU assuming they don't leak. It is much less viscous than epoxy. It does get hot though so you might get some warping.

Sounds great. With the current model it would leak but they
can be made more water-tight easily. So for the moment I´d
stick with easy to obtain, thick resins. I´ll try thiner PU
later.

PMed you,
Re: (shelled) Mini Mendel parts for sale

While double- and tripple- checking the 3d-model of the assembled MiniMendel,
I found quite some parts to be missing. Sorry. S*** happens.
I´ll reprint them asap.
I´ll also rename the parts with the (hopefully) correct number they are needed.

Should in the end any part still come up missing or wrong,
I´ll of cause reprint them.

base-reinforcement-clamp_2 is needed 3x despite not being named "3off"
z-bar-top-clamp is needed 4x despite not being named "4off"
y-belt-nut-trap is needed 2x despite not being named "2off"
y-bar-clamp-4off is needed 16x despite being named "4off"
xlr_bracket_1off was missing
roller_clamp_8off was missing
x-axis-spacer_2off was missing
drive-pulley_3off was missing
x-carriage-lower-right_1off was missing
x-belt-clamp_2off was missing
z-driven-pulley-rim was missing (needed 2x)
z-driven-pulley was missing
z-bar-bottom-clamp was missing
z-leadscrew-base-motor_2 was missing
y-idler-bracket_2 was missing
y-flag was missing
y-belt-clamp_2 was missing (needed 2x)
purge-plate_2 was missing

I uploaded a fixed version of the STL and a number of improvements to Thingivese.
Sorry for the mess. Missing parts and improved versions of parts are currently being printed.

The first print has been sold to a local from the Chaos Computer Club here in town.
So if something is missing, I´m nearby to help out.

I will print a second set using the already improved models after
we can confirm that the first print is indeed complete and that
filling it with epoxy works out well.

When is the second Batch coming out? Also how much are you selling them for? And can you print them in Green Reprap style? Please email me at Robotguy@bellsouth.net. I live in the states.

I guess in 1-2 weeks.
I want to get some feedback on how the expoxy-filling works
out in the first batch before starting the second. To have
the chance to add any improvements we come up with.

I´m accepting offers. How much are you willing to pay for them?

I only have white ABS and some more expensive black one here.
Green I would have to mail-order first and buy at least 1Kg of it.

Until I have feedback on how well the hollow-version works out,
I´ll do a print of the regular MiniMendel.
With the production-sheets that popped up yesterday thanks to
cyrozap, there is no risk of missing a part. winking smiley

Any offers? (in eur, payment via Bank-transfer or paypal, actual shipping-cost is added to the offer, payment due when the parts are all complete and ready for shipment)

Marcus

Rustyspoon's, Erik's, and cyrozap's Thingiverse files for the Mini-Mendel are missing the x-axis-clamps.

I see that you noticed this error but did not report it

Rustyspoon printed my Mini-Mendel parts and when I got them I found that the x-axis-clamps were missing. I emailed him that they were missing from my order and from his Thingiverse post. It wasn't tell last night, reading the forum, that I saw that you were using cyrozap's files to print and thought to check his and the other Thingiverse Mini-Mendel posts. I posted the error here but didn't think to post on Thingiverse too. Sorry, this old brain don't work as well as it use to.

Don´t worry, I crossposted it to the thingiverse-page
and included the skeinforge-results for the parts too.

Did you already build your MiniMendel or are you still gathering the other parts?

Still putting it together. I got my missing parts yesterday so working on the x-axis now. I still need to make the thick-sheets and hook-up the electronics. Then start testing. cool smiley

The Mini-Mendel including the 4x x-axis-clamps are printed.
So, who is interested and makes an offer?
* offers in euro please
* payment via SEPA bank-transfer (EU) or paypal (worlswide)
* missing or broken parts get replaced free of charge
* the actual shipping-cost is added separately (3.9-17eur depending on destination)
If more then one offer comes in, I can always print another set, no problem.

PS: the mini-mendel set on thingiverse has been updated and now contains the x-axis-clamps
