Anyone used this type of extrusion profile fitting?

Hi.

Can anyone comment on using either of these types of corner connector?

or

Pro's Con's? Easy to tweak the angle or good for setting a 90 degree corner?

Any (dis)advantage over using just an angle bracket and overlapping sections of profile.

Thank you.

I asked the supplier [www.aluminium-profile.co.uk]
they said
"
Cubic connectors or right angle brackets are suitable for connecting but sometimes the brackets can be a hindrance as the fit internally on the frame. So it depends really what your application is.
"
A bit vague and I'm waiting for a reply to another enquiry.

I designed my own variant for 30 mm extrusion:

If you print close to 50-100% infill they're pretty strong.

Ooh. That looks neat.

Shame I haven't got a 3d printer yet.
As I often say.

They work ok then? Keep it square ok?

Thanks

They seem to do a pretty good job. As long as you keep the infill high on them, they're pretty strong.

Alan,

Have used both of those fittings and found them fine. The screws supplied with the open type will self tap into the holes in the end of the extrusion but I found it all went together easier if I tapped the hole first, but you can get by without doing that.

Thanks Zitman.

I did buy some of the cubic connectors for 20x20. They do make for a tidy corner.

Those self-tappers are hard work, I chewed the heads up a little getting them in, wish I'd read your tip first.

I'm not sure if they're a better corner than an angle bracket though and my first attempt at assembling them produced quite a twisted non-square construction. I think ok if clamped flat and square.

I have used those 3-corner connecting cubes on various projects.
I can easily sit on one cube i built with them, so very stable^^

For a printer i can only suggest using 90° angles, as they give even more stability
