The motors were barely warm at 0.65V so didn't bother to lower them. It seems better practice keeping them as low as possible. I will try that. I also have 2020 i3 there I tried to lower them to be 0.35V and no troubles. I will certainly check the top bearing of the troubled axis. I think it also is a good idea to check the driver boards by swapping, too. I wish I had all the good suggestions before replacing the motors. If the top bearing was the problem I may have the same trouble with replaced motors. I appreciate for the suggestions.

Try to swap driver boards, like X-Z and see if the problem will move to another axis.
Check your top bearing for problem axis. I had to reassemble one of them because it was too tight.
BTW the vRef is 0.35v for stock motors. I have stock motors and they work up to 120mm/s without any problem.

Paul_delta,
Thank you for the reply. I have checked the vRef and they are ~0.65V. Only Z-axis motor is bad (along the '-y direction' on the bed), and other axes are 'OK' compare to the Z-axis. The behavior is consistent with that the Z-motor is not strong enough to push the carriage back to where it has to be. When the motion is limited near the center the effect is minimal, but when the stroke is long enough the shift is significant. Since I have three stronger Nema 17 motors, decided to replace all three at once. I will see the result tomorrow. I remember seeing complains that those stock motors are not strong enough for the supposed function. I will report what will happen after the replacement.
One good thing I got through the trouble is deeper understanding of the printer.

I had similar situation when nozzle touched warped side of model during travel. Check your extrusion rate, speed and temperature.
BTW did you check your drivers vRef voltage? Probably one of motors skipping steps.

I do need serious help for my printer. When everything is reset, it prints well. But when the printer is continuously used, layer deposition is shifted to one side as shown in the picture. This problem goes away when the machine is reset. Is it possibly caused by the controller? Or some mechanical problems? The attached picture was taken in the morning when the printing was left unattended during the night with confidence, it was a total mess. It seemed OK till 2 layers were printed and prints before the pictured one were OK.

My previous problem was solved, a broken thermistor wire, but now I'm having trouble with the probe. The LED light won't come on. I looked through the photos on the google drive and noticed I'm missing the thin red and black wires going into the power supply on photo DSC00175. Can anyone tell me what these wires are for? They aren't on the wiring diagram and I'm hoping it will solve my probe problem.

PS: looks like FT still working on rev.B manual, making it totally unusable. Before there was a diagram how to wire z-probe with resistors. Now - there is nothing about resistors. What a clowns.

So I recently finished building and setting everything up with my Rev B from Folgertech. Since I had everything working well with marlin FW I decided to give Repetier a shot. I was able to get everything working and calibrated. Autobed leveling seemed to work just fine and I did several prints in PLA and ABS. Now today when trying some prints the nozzle would start dragging on the 3rd layer very badly. After checking a few things I realized I was able to recreate the issue anytime I had the Z axis at 0.5mm. Any movement command of 0.1mm up or down via Repeiter Host or LCD would result in a movement in the opposite direction but the Z axis would read as if the movement was correct. I was able to do this at any physical level in z height by changing my Z height to something smaller like 150mm and have the same issue. This would led me to believe it is some kind of software issue versus hrdware. I did flash back to Marlin FW without the issue. Flashing back to Repetier FW issue would come back.
Was hoping someone familer with Repetier might have some idea what is causing this strange issue. I have come to prefer Repetier over Marlin but this issue makes printing impossible with Repetier FW.

Attach your Configuration.h, looks like configuration issues.

I see there is a new 0.92.8 version on Repetier web site. It looks like there are a lot of improvements in bed leveling procedure since 092.6 version.

Thank you paul_delta for the help. I got mine up and running and calibrated for nice and flat X Y travel. I upgraded a couple things while I was at it. So my next question is any one running a E3D V6 hot end? And if so what changes in feed rate did you find works best?. Seems it needs to be upped a bit. Thanks all.

I got a reprapdiscount lcd controller with my kit, but I haven't hooked it up because I thought I saw something in the forum about there not being enough oomph from the PSU to run it. Is that the case? I can find the occasional reference to this, but usually it's involving the servo for the old bed sensor, which I don't have to worry about.

Aha, perfect, thank you. That was the impression I got from reading the few things I could find, but it was hard to be sure.

Ok I may have something not right. When I home the printer with the G28 command my endstops report triggered. Should the Z_min not be triggered here?
Reporting endstop status
x_max: TRIGGERED
y_max: TRIGGERED
z_min: TRIGGERED
z_max: TRIGGERED
When I bring it down to Z0 it reports
Reporting endstop status
x_max: open
y_max: open
z_min: TRIGGERED
z_max: open
How can my Z_min be triggered both times?

Hi everyone,
I have been following this thread for quite a while as I slowly have been putting together my FT Kossel RevB. I finally got it all together and powered up, but as my last post above shows, I have some issues... One is the Z_MIN always being TRIGGERED regardless of whether or not the light comes on, but I am going to try re-wiring it (it currently has the blue wire connected to ground, whereas I see that most people have it connected to V-). If that doesn't fix it, I will try removing the resistors and just connecting to 5V as a previous poster mentioned it works for him that way..
My main issue though, is that using Repetier-Host (and the FT Marlin firmware compiled using Arduino and flashed with no errors), no matter what I do with the manual controls, they all just result in all the carriages moving up until they hit the end stops... and they don't stop when hitting the end stops either. If I try to do a 0.1mm move on Z, it just goes up and keeps going up. Same if I try to do a move on X or Y or even extruder (!).. It was not like this at first, so I thought perhaps I had messed up the firmware, so I re-compiled the FT firmware (with no changes) and reuploaded to the printer... same problem still persists though...
Any clues as to why all the movement commands just end up causing the entire print head to move straight up? Did I fry something?
Thanks for all of the help you folks have already given... I'm still learning and all this shared info is great...
Eric

triggered z-min is the source of problem. disable your probe completely and try again.
