Ok. So I bought a new nozzle and change it and it still seeps out from the nozzle and from the heater block. What Settings do you guys use for extrusion and extrusion speed on pronterface? Mine ar set at 30mm at 300mm/min speed. Is that way to off?

That most likely does not have anything with a setting to do, you just haven't got your nozzle tight enough.

Heat up the hotend to ~230C and then tighten the nozzle while it is still hot, this is best done before you put any filament in.

That setting in pronterface is only used for manual extrusion, a tool to calibrate the extruder steps/mm, the real extrusion-rate is set in the slicing software of your choosing, slicer, cura, Simplify3D etc. etc.

Again, are you talking about seepage out of the threaded connections, or ooze, as is some dribbling of molten plastic out the nozzle? If the latter, it's often a sign of running too hot . . .

The Pronterface setting have exactly nothing to do with what happens when printing, only on manual moves from Pronterface. Retraction and such are set in the slicer, and I run 5mm at 80mm/sec . . .

Yeah It was coming out of the threads. I used the guide for the E3dV6 That thevisad showed me and now its all good. Thanks guys my prints are finally coming out perfect!

Did any of you guys print or buy a different filament extruder?

I chopped this one from another extruder and used a MK8 gear on it and it's the cats meow, very little maintenance with it and feeds all of the filament I have put to it, [www.thingiverse.com]

I'm gonna try that one, with the original gear but will buy an mk8

It will work it just puts a lot of stress on the filament with the original. Its a pretty big bend around that loop. I had filament break a few times.

Thanks for all the tips. Broke my spool holder that came with the Kossel and decided to try making this one. Bearing works awesome. Do most of you keep the same type of Filament holders? Or do you have some new ones printed.

Another question is whats the nozzle size of preference most use?

Thanks for the link - i am in the midst of printing the bearing now - the last time i tried with the .3 tolerance it welded together.. :/ so i upped it to .4

Really shows that i have to work harder at calibration! that's a slick looking spool holder for sure!

I am still using .4 but I purchased .2 - .5 so that I could play around with different nozzles. .4 provides some pretty detailed work and reducing the nozzle size will increase print times.

If you have a kossel 2020 make sure you print these extensions too

Whats the general rule with nozzle sizes? The bigger the more fine detail and faster prints? I have some .4, and .5 to try aside from the .3 that came with the printer.

I printed a modified pair of those bearings to fit on the arm that comes from Folger, and that has been working great for me.

Tim how do you mount your filament? My folgertech arm broke. Honestly most of those plexi pieces have been breaking on me. Ive printed new rail stops as well as now looking for the filament spool holder.

Stick one gear bearing in each side of the spool, slide the assembly over the inner section of the plexi arm, and keep it from walking off with a binder clip. I used customizer to make the bearings with a center gear with a hole sized to fit the arm . . . and I can't say that I have had any issues feeling that the mount it weak . . . I just added the bearings because it wasn't feeding smoothly on the sharp edges of the plexi.

I found an end stop mount made specifically for the end stops in the kit. Again, not replacing for any strength issue, but rather that they didn't sit flat.

Perhaps you are tightening your hardware too much? This is M3, and doesn't take much . . . I've been running close to two months, and the plexi looks the same as the day I got it. My printed corners are deforming from heat, but that's a different issue . . .

I use the lcd screen on mine; however, I have replaced the servo, ramps and mega with another one. There are known issues with using the screen and servo at the same time. The 5v rail on the ramps has a hard time feeding both, you can remove the jumper and add a secondary power to just the 5v rail on the ramps. You can also remive the crappy fuses and replace them with car fuses..

thevisad. I made that extruder mount that you showed me. Seems to work much better havent seen any motor skips at all in any of the filmaments. One question though, Now my extruder is not calibrated, Im assuming because of the new MK8 gear. How do I go about changing it in the firmware to make it all calibrated again. I seen some tutorials but cant find where to change it in the firmware. Thanks again any help appreciated.
Re: Folger Tech Kossel Delta 2020 Full 3D Printer Kit w/Auto-Level

Adjust steps/mm for the extruder. You can take the length you were trying to extrude, divide it by what you got, and multiply steps/mm by that to make corrections.

So, for example, set at 80 steps/mm, commanded 100mm, got 90, then

100/90 * 80 = 88.9 (Call it 89)

Repeat a couple times until there is no error.

If if went from a direct drive to geared, your first change should be close to that ratio, and then proceed as ahove from there.

Only place I can see remotely changing it is here. Is this correct? Dont want to change something that completely screws it up

#define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {189/2.25, 189/2.25, 189/2.25, 100}

Nope. Tried changing that 100 with no avail. On the bright side I am getting consistent extrusions so I know its working just my steps are off.

That is the correct place, but if you are using EEPROM, it's likely set there as well, and overriding your change. Try an M502/M500, and see if your change appears.

Oh, and for what it's worth, running the first three parameters at 80 will make your pri ter more accurate.

Tim,
Thanks for the help. I got it to work. I just had to comment out the EEPROM and then my effects did take place. Im gonna take the parameters to 80 and take your advice. Do you leave them with the divided by or can I put it in straight 80? Why is it 189/2.5 instead of just 75.6?

hi

I m new to 3d printing world . last week i bought hesine 3d printer. after full assembly i tried to connect with laptop but my laptop not recognise its USB . so i am unable to find in device manager.
its circuit board light is blinking . several time i hook up and remove .
all usb of laptop r good i checked through putting the mouse in that.
how do i load the drivers to this .
can anybody help.

Did you buy a folgertech Kossel? I know you need the audrino drivers. Should be a link in the manual.

I put in the straight 80 . . .not sure why they used the fraction. And no need to disable the prom for this . . . M502/M500 will revert to default values (M502) from your build, and M500 puts those in the prom to be persistent.

*If* you are on WhinDuhs . . . more advanced platforms do not have that limitation . . .

I honestly have not noticed an issue with the calibration and I left the configs the same for the extruder. The location is where Tim indicated, in this section here.
