I Finally got my LCD to work, but it seems that the reset button on the LCD doesnt work.
IIRC, LCD doesn't have a reset button, but rather a kill switch, so it should kill everything, but isn't supposed to be followed by reboot (I hope there's a reason for it, because I found that pretty frustrating personally).
Anyway: i can press that button all i want mid-print. print will happily continue. Only way to stop it is trough the menu, or killing the power.
I thought you might have expected different response. You can also hit reset on ramps, that's what I used to do before. Sintron LCD's kill switch I haven't even tried, maybe it's designed not to work…

The Kill switch on my LCD works well. I use it a lot when I calibrate. I also use it when I messup and make my print bed bigger than it really is. The nozzle might crash into the towers. Then I hit the kill switch and shut the system off ASAP.
Still installing the Duet hardware and IR sensor. Lots of work. Im thinking of selling off my RAMPS LCD setup including the Z probe if I can get the duet to work right.

For me a inductive sensor seems to be perfect - with the alu bed.Quote

I'm still thinking of buying IR sensor. On one hand my z-probe seems to work fine, on the other hand IR sensor is cooler ;-) On the third hand I'd need to change things again…

I saw video on Youtube where z-probe was implemented in this way. So, It could work.Quote

So why don't just put GND on the Hotend, connect printbed to Controller-input with pullup resistor activated, and detect the nozzle touching the printbed?

...., in general, using nozzle as probe is not good idea because the thin end of nozzle could be deformed and flattened every hit and eventually became useless.

Hello everyone. Update to my IR sensor project. I'm a fan of dc42. Bought his PanelDue and ir board. Printed his ir fan connector to the effector. Printed his PanelDue enclosure.
So IR looks great. Works great BUT... I do the delta auto calibration 3 times. My after error correction is around 0.400. After 3 calibrations the center and the z tower is perfect. I do the paper test. To prove it. However . The y and X tower is of by 1mm. It is 1mm to high. The is no way to see exactly how high because I can't make the nozzle probe go down anymore. I don't have the bed.g file with me(on a business trip). But any ideas?
I added 2 more G30 commands near the Centre, at the x and y tower. Seemed to help the Z height at the Centre. Did not do anything at the x and y tower z height. I do a 16 point calibration. This did not help. Will adding more probing points to the x and y G30 (say 5 more points each) help? Is there a way to fix this?

The main issue here is to achieve good contact when touching the bed. So, no glass or tape anymore. Even the coating like ABS soup or PVA will prevent such z-probe to work.
Maybe using effector with integrated z-probe is better? Like this - [www.thingiverse.com] . It also uses nozzle as point of probe, but still incorporates mechanical switch.
BTW, in general, using nozzle as probe is not good idea because the thin end of nozzle could be deformed and flattened every hit and eventually became useless.

Thats the effector i use.
The tapping of the nozzle is that hash, so i doubt it will mess up the nozzle.
I forgot where the settings where bit you can change the probe speed.
It works great for me on my micromake

Might it be possible, your endstop Switches on x and y are much too high, so the Firmware assumes, it would be safer not to go any lower?

Way back I 3d printed the circular Mercedes sign calibration part. Then laser printed the matching *.pdf. It said impossibly that x tower was 120 deg y tower was 121deg and 120 deg on z tower. For a total of 361 deg. So if my build is not true 120 deg from each other will this be causing these errors. How can I double check ? Or fix it?
