Timing belt T2.5 Pitch avaialable in Australia
April 19, 2010 10:11PM
Hi

I have bulk bought T2.5 timing belt from China and happy to share with anyone in Australia. (because I am fed up paying $70 for 3m)

Price is 5 Meter for $25 Australian Dolars plus postage and packaging (i.e. Whatever Autralia post charge me. I am in Brisbane.)

Anyone interested? Please send me a private message if you are. Picture attached.

regards

Stephen

Edited: 11th May 2010 changed the price and amount.

Would you be interested in sending to Norway? Is so, would the postage be expensive?
I'm looking to buy 5m if your still selling it for $20 AUD.

This is 5mm wide, right? Do you know if it is difficult to splice it for the mendel z-axis?

Today I successfully cast some working gears in polymorph thermoplastic from what I believe is a T1.5 belt from an old scanner. It was actually surprisingly easy.

Hi Peter

Note: T2.5 is for the Darwin not the Mendel.

However I have Mendel belts on order and hope to get delivery soon.
I should be getting them in by the 22nd May 2010.

Delivery to Norway is about $A14 ($A11 postage + $A3 packing)

If you send me a private email I will notify you of the cost and
various options when they arrive.

regards

Stephen

P.s. $A is about 92 US cents at the moment

Hi Stephen

Since I'm casting my own gears, I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to use a T2.5 - or for that matter any - belt? Or am I missing something basic here?

I'll wait until you get the mendel belts though, for consistency.

PM sent.

Nudel: Just a note that I've got some T5 belts on order with Stephen, and I'll post pics as soon as they come in if Stephen doesn't get around to it.

Hi Nudel

Happy to supply whatever belt you want. Just don't want to disappoint you.
5M is $A25 plus postage and packaging of $A14 making a total of $A39.

I can send them tomorrow if you are still interested.

You are not missing anything if you can make your own gears. I use this belt in my own reprap. However splicing the Z axis is a pain in the backside but doable with a sharp knife and some glue. The belt is 6mm wide and has a pitch of 2.5mm and comes in one long length.

P.s I am told that you can't print cogs for this timing belt yet as the "teeth" are too fine.

Hmm.. well. I can make my own gears, but I don't know how well the thermoplastic holds up in the long run compared to a printed gear?

I'll think about it, but most likely I'll pass on the T2.5 belt for now. But I'm interested in the T5 belt, one long piece is fine, as I believe I can manage the splicing. You're welcome to drop me an email when you have T5 available.

I have perspect gears from the bit from bytes kit and have had no issues.
It just works. I have been repraping for a few years now.
That said I do have metal gears on order which I will be using for my next project. - Grin

If you are building a Mendel I think it is a wise choice to use the tested belt.

Will do.

Exchanged in person at Fiat timing chain. I do not recommend, it is better to give the technician.

Was thinking of ordering some t2.5 and some matching metal pulleys - is there any interest in this if I do a bulk order? Shipping across australia.
