Calculating motor torque required to operate a syringe type paste exrtruder

I'm looking into making a paste extruder using a syringe. Does anyone know how to calculate the required torque to drive it and the pressure that will develop inside the syringe?
I couldn't figure out how to calculate the required force, so I went with what I thought would be enough. Keeping fingers crossed... starting tests tomorrow.

I did not know how to calculate it either, but after breaking one tube I had to learn it: [fightpc.blogspot.com]

Just for other readers looking for answers (but most likely too late for the OP :-).

Do you know how much pressure you need? If so then the torque needed to produce that pressure is easy enough to calculate:

Work_per_turn = plunger_area * leadscrew_lead * pressure = motor_torque * 2 * pi * leadscrew_efficiency

Solve for torque or for pressure.
