Microlayering on the outside, you mean, like
the skin feature of skeinforge ? That's more a slicer feature than an host feature (java host combine both afaik).
If that's it, all firmware should be compatible, this feature only needs usual gcodes.
Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.
