Gen7 Brushless ESC

Hey,

I am new here and was wondering if any one could help me with some thing....

For my Year 11 project I am making a CNC router, I was wondering if (an how) you could connect a brushless ESC (to run a brushless outrunner, 10amp max) to a Gen7 1.5 board to use as the spindle controller

Any help would be much appriciated spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

I saw this on ebay

apparently you can connect a ESC up to this and it sends them the same signal that you would get from a receiver...

My very quick look at the thing did not reveal any control input specification but, assume you have a digital "on" input pin and an analog "speed" input pin. Then you could use the dir or forward/reverse signal for the extruder motor as "on" for your spindle and use the PWM signal for the extruder heater for "speed" control.

Hobby ESC's expect a servo-type control signal. In fact, you can use the Arduino servo library to control a brushless ESC and motor. I know that Marlin natively supports servo control, and other firmwares probably do as well. This way you could just have a gcode command to turn the spindle on and off and control the speed.
