Cellulose acetat? Anyone?

I'm wondering if anyone has experience in using cellulose aceteat for extruding. I just learned that cigarette filters are made of that stuff and it's thermoplastic with a working temperature between 180 and 200°C.
I mean that stuff is literally lying on the streets. How awesome would it be if you could recycle it and make cool stuff from it. Ashtrays for example
