Its machinery accuracy is 0.02mm and the repeat precision is 0.2mm which is 50 times better than servo.

So many similar robots... it's good there is an open source variant like Dobot that resembles (and claims) industrial grade accuracy.
I just stumbled upon this one http://www.sainsmart.com/diy-4-axis-servos-control-palletizing-robot-arm-model-for-arduino-uno-mega2560.html but looking more there are so many similar designs...

I wonder what gear reducer does Dobot use... It might be some sort of planetary compact gearbox but that would have too much backlash for the claimed accuracy... maybe some sort of cycloidal gearbox?

In the comments of the Instructable they say 1:10, but they probably mean 10:1.

I have chcked the instructables and only found int the comments that the stepper motors come integrated with a planetary gearbox. 10:1 doesn't seem like enough to get a good resolution without x32 microstepping. And that would reduce torque too much. Not much "source" on this so called open source robot...
