It's probably just phorum's mechanism to control email attachments.

I believe Simon may have set up developers@reprap.org so that core-cabal
developers like you and I can natter away freely while non-cabal subscribers
can only listen, and cannot post. In order to do this, he had to assign
himself as moderator, which only becomes an issue in the case of attachments
and non-cabal postings.

40 KB seems a little small for an attachment size ceiling; I imagine we'd be
more comfortable with a 2 MB limit.

most likely just a config error... never attribute to malice what you
can attribute to stupidity (in this case a minor oops)

Yes, 40k is the default in mailman because they assume people will only
send text. I've set it to unlimited. Please don't send anything quite
that big though smiling smiley
