Looking for a 'How to' on adding features....

Hi all,

I am a bit stuck and could use your advice.

I have messed around with Arduinos before and run simple programs that change LEDs with temp etc, but would now like to experiment with adding custom featured to my reprap - ie a chamber thermometer and fan switch, or a bed probe to help levelling etc.

I can write the individual code, but could use a pointer on adding it to my firmware (Marlin), and advice on the best way to initate it.

Can anyone point me to a simple guide?

IIRC, the only firmware developers hitting this forum are those for Repetier and Teacup. Marlin people have somehow their own RepRap universe.
