Hi,
I'm building my first Huxley and have got to the extruder drive assembly step. I noticed when looking down the slot where the idler bearing sits (see attachment) there is a lot of rough plastic with a gap in the middle between the bearing and the hobbed drive. Should this be a nice clean square hole between the 2 sections i.e. do I need to clean it out as at the moment I can't see how the idler bearing is going to be able to do very much?
Don't worry about it. The filament runs down that gap (if you put it in, you'll see where it is), and it won't interfere with the bearing on one side, or the hobbed insert on the other.
