Finishing old Huxley Build (Serial number #20?)

Hi folks, I've taken on one of the original Kickstarter Huxley kits as the original contributor does not feel they have time to finish it...

... it's mostly done, and I've already built a (similar) Prusa I2, but there are a couple things that puzzle me.

1) How do you clean the hot end, as it appears to be made from solid plastic?

2) Is there an easy way to tighten up the hot end to the X carriage as it's wobbly as a jellied eel?

Apart from that, the guy did a really good job... have got the motors working after replacing the Pololus, so it looks viable to complete.

To anyone in a similar position - DON'T bother with an orginal Huxley. The Sanguinolu is a joke controller designed to blow up motor controllers.

After much faffing it reaches about 20% into a print and then hangs. I suspect a crashed Atmel controller due to the +5v regulator having to contend with a 19V supply.

I can see why it's been redesigned 5 times. Pah. Live and learn I suppose.

I used Ramps 1.4 and Melzi 2.0(With Atmel). They are both OK. But I like the latter one more.

Whilst I can't speak about the version that is being considerd. Huxley #710 has had hundreds if not thousands of hours printing from a Sanguinololu and no blown up motor controllers.

I did find twisting the limit switch cables beneficial.

I also found the motor controllers can overheat, shutting down. Small heat sinks and a small amount of airflow work a treat.

The Sanguinolu isnt perfect...

But I've been running several for 4+years with zero dead drivers!!!
