Problem with heating
June 02, 2012 10:02AM
I'm running ramps 1.4 and am having trouble burning up resistors. I have a number of 5ohm 3.75watt resistors that worked fine with my old gen 3 electronics but every time I try them with my ramps they burn up. I have selected the option for mendel parts v9 on 12v below , I thought this would work to change Pid_max which I believe manipulates the power to the hot end. Any ideas ??

// Mendel Parts V9 on 12V
#define DEFAULT_Kp 63.0
#define DEFAULT_Ki (2.25*PID_dT)
#define DEFAULT_Kd (440/PID_dT)

Maybe try to disable pid and use bang-bang instead ?

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.
