LCD current draw

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a ReprapDiscount smart controller for my printer, but I'm worried about maxing out the 30 amps on my psu. Could anyone tell me what the current is on one of those (or even the voltage, I'll take anything)? I can't find it for the life of me and I want to know that my setup can handle it before I buy it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Your 30A PSU is no problem. The so-called smart controller (really a very dumb controller) takes somewhere between 40mA and 100mA from the 5V rail. OTOH the additional load may cause the 5V regulator on the Arduino to overheat and go into thermal shutdown, depending on how well the Arduino is cooled and what else (if anything) is drawing current from the 5V rail.
