Hi,

Just started testing a ramps 1.4 with A4988 drivers and while other drivers are fine, the vref on the Y axis varies greatly.. it moves all over the place and up to 5v. Even with another driver I get the same issue so my only assumption is a fault with the RAMPS itself?

Any information on where I can troubleshoot? Cold solder joint? Short somewhere?

Hi,

I'm currently facing the exact same problem, and all my searches have yet to find a similar problem or answer. Have you every been able to find the source of the issues?

The ceramic base of the trimpot on the stepper drivers can break easily, which can lead to that kind of weird behavior.
I had several drivers that arrived broken in the mail due to bad packaging.
So you might want to check out the trimmer with a magnifier glass for any cracks.
