Lamp cable + switch instead of kettle lead

I'm using ramps 1.4 with a CNC 30A 12V, PCB heatbed, currently with a kettle lead but I want a switch,
does anyone know if a lamp lead with a torpedo switch would be suitable? or any other ideas...

Likely it'll work, even if household mains electric stuff is usually rated for 16A, only. A SevenSwitch equipped with an IRLB8743 MOSFET should do the job, too, and can be controlled by the controller. Well, with 30A (_that_ much?) you likely need to reinforce the connectors, too.

No....the lamp cable is most likely only rated at 7.5A max...not a good idea to use it for 30A...for the short time it will last you will most likey have a massive V drop. The switch must also be rated above the 30A
Does the kettle cord you are currently using get warm during use?

Do you mean to switch the power before it gets to the psu? if so it'll be absolutely fine, 30A at 12V will draw 1.5A at 240V, so you'd struggle to find any mains-rated switches that wouldn't work.
