i just found these guys, and i was wondering if anyone else has tried them [www.pololu.com] they look like they could be a little better.

if not you could keep a coffee warm on the stepper without overheating your stepper. lol

It looks like they were sold by the GRRF, but discontinued.

This original version of our DRV8825 stepper motor driver carrier has
been replaced by a newer version that can more easily be used as a
drop-in replacement for our A4988 stepper motor driver carriers. The
only difference is that the newer version connects the sleep and fault
lines through a resistor, making it more straightforward to use in very
specific situations described in more detail on the product page.
Generally speaking, most users should not notice any difference between
the two driver versions
