Testing Stepper motors
October 10, 2013 01:03PM
I am in the process of building up my first Prusa i3.

Ive got all of my electronics, but still waiting for some printed parts to turn up, so I can complete the mechanical side of the build.

I have wired/ connected the stepper motors and drivers etc. onto the RAMPS 1.4 as shown in the wiki.

At this stage, I only have the stepper drivers and motors wired (No end stops at the moment)

I have loaded the test code onto the Arduino, and all motors work (flashing LEDs and Full rotation in both directions of motors)

I have also uploaded sprinter onto the Arduino, however when I use in conjunction with Repetier host, When I try to Jog the motors, they simply Buzz/ Vibrate.

Is there a setting i need to change in Configuration.h, or is it simply the fact that I do not have any end stops connected, which would be stopping the motors from working in the same way they do during the 'test code'

Any help much appreciated.

Since your steppers work with the test code, you should open configuration.h, (in Marlin) there are 6 lines for inverting each endstop. Set the x, y & z minimum endstops to true. You may also have to turn off software endstops in nearby code. Once you've installed actual endstops you have to set invert to false. I don't recall if sprinter file is exactly the same, but the idea is, works with Reptierhost, and I recommend using Marlin.

Do you have the jumpers installed? Should be three below each driver.
