7.5 degree steppers with marlin

So I just received my ramps 1.4 board not long ago hooked everything up and I installed marlin on it. I am using pronterface to control it. Right now I am just trying to get movement out of my motors so I am using the manual control. I can't seem to get the motor to run consistently. I suspect that it is because of the pulse rate that it is meant for 1.8 degree steppers.

I can't find a spot in the marlin code where I might be able to change the pulse rate. Is this possible in any type of firmware? Any suggestions would help.

have you set the DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT ? if so try reducing the DEFAULT_MAX_FEEDRATE

I guess I don't really understand the concept of feedrate but I have messed around with the feedrate and max step frequency numbers.

Would not setting the steps per unit make the pulse in random rotations?
