LCD unit on ramps... how does it work ?

I got my new Arduino / Ramps together with an LCD unit with card slot.

I wander, what should I see on that LCD and what must I do ?

Will it show anything while just uploading firmware ? Because that is my current phase..... It is not on the printer yet.
Plugging it on the ramps does not power the LCD unit ....or at least, I see nothing happening.

It is the firmware that actually displays data on the LCD. Nothing will show up on the LCD until you have the firmware loaded onto the arduino and have it properly configured.
