Ramps 1.4 w/LCD will heat, home and turn on the fan, BUT won't print

I have a student who has built a MOST delta machine but instead of using a melzi running repitier we are running a ramps1.4 with a rewrap discount 20x04 lcd. We have a 8mb sd card with a gcode program that is about 700k on the card. Using the LCD we can preheat the printer but once we get to our desired temp we attempt to try and PRINT FILE but the printer does nothing. Is there something that would disable printing from a SD in the repitier firmware?

Does the printer move under manual control or when printing via USB?

Homing results in X0 Y0 Z"max" coordinates?

The gcode file should already contain temp-settings and homing command.
Why don´t you just run the gcode file?

Yes we can home from the controller and the USB. The print option on the controller is not being registered as a command. Now it's acting as if the ramps shield is not getting any power. When our 12 volts DC power is plugged into the ramps board the screen does not come on, however when the arduino is plugged into the computer, the screen powers on.

Check if diode D1 is there on Ramps and mounted in the right direction. #see attached pic
Then you should check if arduinos 5V regulator is working.

It seems the +power wire going into the green connector did not have a great connection. We will are not printing. I can set the machine to preheat up to the temp we want to be at and then once we have reached the temp, I attempt to select the sd card that contains the .gcode file but when we select "Print File" nothing happens. if we pull the SD card out at this point everything freezes and the fans shuts off.

the gcode file is not showing up on the screen. we saved the gcode file to the sd card, but nothing is there when we select the card.
