Lcd lights up but no information displayed

Hi all,

If anyone know an answer to this it would be greatly appreciated
I had a ramps 1.4 board working with the hex file provided with a project on instructables Project
and even had it printing some pretty rough prints.

A problem has occurred where the screen will light up but nothing is displayed.
So far I have done the following without any success.
Re flashed Mega 2560
Replaced the ramps board thinking I damaged that.
Replaced the Arduino when I noticed the voltage regulator was damaged.

Nothing had worked. Could it be that the actual smart controller unit is damaged? And Is there any way to test this?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am assuming you already tried to adjust the contrast, mine has a very touchy contrast know to where bumpin the lcd will mess it up.
