LCD Smart Controller Powers Up But Nothing More

Just finished assembling Prusa i3. LCD discount smart controller powers up (and beeps when button pressed) but shows nothing else whether on usb power or not. Believe I have installed software correctly and have tried different contrast on lcd screen. Also have switched cables on lcd board, but to no effect. Any ideas?

Some LCD controllers have problems with the contrast setting and need an additional resistor to work properly, as discussed in this thread.

enif, thanks for the quick reply. I managed to figure out this one on my own. Apparently, I was using an older version of Marlin that did not have a #define for a REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER. This youtube video was very helpful: [youtu.be]. Cheers.
