Hi folks,
it might be a bit rude to ask in this forum but what would be an upgrade to the ramps/mega combo?
My ramps is working like a charm but I wouldn't mind having something that didn't need heaps of cooling,
replacing mosfets, replacing dodgy low amp power connectors, etc.
All help appreciated,

If you don't mind running different (and easier to configure) firmware, then Duet or Smoothieboard. Both are 32-bit boards with native USB interface, software-configurable stepper motor current, on-board A4982 drivers that are much better cooled than plug-in drivers, and good mosfets. Both are 24V-capable. Both have a built-in SD card socket. Both have an Ethernet port supporting a web interface, although the web interface on the Duet is much more advanced than the one on the Smoothie. The Duet has an on-board 5V switching regulator, and for the Smoothie you can buy one as an add-on.
Duet supports a colour touch-panel controller (full disclosure: I manufacture the display controller board for this) but not traditional monochrome LCD/encoder combos. Most Duet users just use the web interface.
The best Duet is the version 0.8.5 from Think3DPrint3D and supports dual extrusion You can get a cheap single-extrusion Duet 0.6 from Replikeo but the quality is variable.
There are also some closed-source Smoothie clones, but you are not doing the Smoothie developers any favours if you buy them.
