Stepper Motor Driver Problem. Need help !

Hi i have my electronics all hooked up and i am building a MendelMax 1.5 or 2 i'm not sure.

I have the stepper motor driver connected to their position according to schematic diagram and the microsteppers jumper were installed. The scenario is this:

X and Y axis works fine. Z axis couldn't move with two motors connected at the same time. Loud buzzing and whining noise is heard only. When i take off one of the Z motor, it moves smoothly. The stepper motor driver i used here is A4988 red colour driver. I have changed to DRV8825 purple colour driver to test and they could turn smoothly but the driver turns incredibly hot.

The power supply i'm using is a 12V 30A power supply. Can anyone tell me what the problem is or teach me how to further troubleshoot to identify what problem it is?

Three solutions (not counting getting better controller electronics with properly-cooled drivers):

1. (best) Wire your stepper motors in series instead of in parallel. Google "wire stepper motors in series".

2. Use the DRV8825 driver but turn the current setting pot down. See if you can find a setting that still works but doesn't overheat the driver.

3. Use the A4988 driver but turn the current setting pot up. See if you can find a setting that works but doesn't overheat the driver.

Problem solved. The actual cause is the default axis steps per unit is too high for Z that causes it to stuck in the movement. I thought it was because of default max feedrate. Thanks for helping DC42
