So I know that every third topic here is about the 5V voltage regulator of the arduino, however, I would still like to ask the following two questions which I still haven't found definitive answers to:
1. Many users suggest replacing the AMS1117 with something more powerful. Unfortunately electronics is not my field of expertise so I'd hope that you suggest some sort of plug&play-capable upgrade - i.e. unsolder the AMS1117 and solder another voltage regulator in its place. What does the Taurino use?
2. The D1 on my ramps is unsoldered. If I apply 5V directly to the Arduino via the VCC Pin on the RAMPS, would it be safe to connect the USB while at the same time supplying 5V directly to the arduino and bypassing the voltage regulator? Would this lead to some undefined state of the arduino or even some damage?
Thank you!
